“This little book is not a guide-book. Is there any more room in the libraries for such a useful and tedious thing? It is not a work of propaganda. Do the flowers, and the sun and the moon, the stars, and music, and Italy need anything so banal? It is only the mode of expression of a musician of old, who, having broken his instrument, lets vibrate and resound his soul. – U.A.”  Isola Pescatori, Lake Maggiore, Spring 1929

” A book which provides richly what every happy loiterer in any beautiful spot of Europe desires, interesting information about the history and past romance of the place, combined with description of its present interests and beauties, and numerous unforgettable pictures from photographs.”
